Warsaw's New Town (Nowe Miasto) was founded in 1402, was given its own charter and corporation along the lines of its elder brother. A market square and town hall were built and a number of churches and monasteries sprung up. The New Town was merged with the rest of the city in 1791, however still retaining its own market square, the town hall and the parish church. During the WWII it was completely destroyed and rebuilt in accordance to the original design. |
