Near Takum and actually just passed the first buildings of another village Phaiai Gaon, Mayangdi Valley turns its direction by 90 degrees and leads towards northern slopes of Dhaulagiri. From now on, it changes its character into a gigantic gorge with 1000-metres steep almost vertical slopes. The main trail still goes to the west and after a few days of walk along erroneous paths brings to the mysterious land of Dolpo described in the famous Peter Mettisen’s book – The Snow Leopard.

After crossing bridge, a beautiful but steep path took us to the typical Magar village of Muri. Apparently, a very few foreigners get there as our appearance turned out to be a major attraction for the villagers. In the late afternoon we reached a dark bottom of the gorge where we found a small meadow suitable for camping. The surrounding was incredible. The valley was just a few dozen metres wide and we fell totally overwhelmed by a few hundred meters high steep and sometimes overhanged slopes dubbed by a hum of the raging river.
