HELAMBU

Helambu is the Himalayan region the closest to Kathmandu and inhabited mainly by the Sherpa and Tamang people. The best way to see it is to make a full circuit which takes about 8-10 days. I visited Helambu on my way back from Langtang and Gosainkund and just trekked from Therapati to Sundrijal, which took me two and a half days. The path passes through a very beautiful country with excellent accommodation, however the trail is sometimes very eroded thus not comfortable.

Therepati at 3600 m is a smal settlement (the highest on the Helambu circuit) consisting just of 4 lodges and its famous for wonderful view over the Himalayas. Unfortunately during my stay there I was not able to enjoy it fully due to thick clouds.
