From Laurubina Yak, the path basically follows the ridge to reach a concrete mandir - a Hindu shrine.
After reaching a small pass the path very exposed from there traverses a steep and rocky slopes and finally reaches the lodges of Gosainkund
GOSAINKUND (4385 m)
Gosainkund is a group of 58 lakes considered by Hindu people as sacred. A small, black rock in the middle of the largest lake is said to be a head of Shiva. According to legend, Shiva himself created this lake when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water to quench his thirst after consuming some poison. There is a small shrine on the northern side of the lake which attracts thousands of pilgrims during the full-moon festival each August.
Lodges in Gosainkund are very good and warm, which is important on this altitude. When it rain in the valleys it snows here which was the case during my stay and a few inches of fresh snow made the landscape even more beautiful in the morning.
Climbing Larubina Pass (4610 m)
Next morning woke up cloudless but bearing in mind that it gets cloudy very early we left our lodge at 5 a.m.
