GOSAINKUND TREK

Gosainkund trek was a continuation of my Langtang trekking. It took me one day to descend from Kyanjin to Bamboo Lodge on the bottom of Langtang Valley. Next day, I began a steep ascend towards Gosainkund lakes which I consider as a beginning of the trekking described below. Gosainkund region is one of the most often visited in the Himalayas, however most of the visitors come during June and July and can be rather consider as pilgrims not trekkers. The trail is very picturesque and combined with Helambu gives an opportunity to pass an interesting regions inhabited mainly by Tamang and Sherpa people and ends in Kathamdu without necessity of taking a bus on the way back from Dhunche or Syabru Bensi.

Tholo Syabru is the largest villages in Langtang Valley. It actually consists of two parts, lower one - traditional with stone houses and upper one when almost every house have been turned into a lodge. The lodges are one of the best in the region with hot, running showers, electricity and good range of food. Those people who do not cater tourists are still engaged in traditional way of earning money - weaving, farming, carrying loads.

From Tholo Sybru the Gosainkund trail climbs very steeply through the forest for more than two hours until reaching a clearing in the forest with few large lodges and cheese factory called Sing Gompa.
