Trekking - Day 13
Khambachen - Lhonak
Leaving Kangbachen Village, the path follows the Gunsa river, crosses a landslide, passes the sacred waterfall, climbing gently, finally to reach a flat part of the valley. |
Looking down the valley... |
...and up the valley |
Ther are magnificent view in this part of the valley, especially over Kangbachen - a lesser summit of Kanchnenjunga (7903 m), actually a separate mountain - first scaled by the Polish team in May 1974. One of the landmarks of that part of the valley is a rocky doll (left). |
Just before reaching Lhonak, one should cross a delicate bridge. |
Lhonak (4700 m, *4620 m) is a large pasture at the confluence of the tributary glen below Tsisgma Peak and Kangchenjunga Glacier. |
As the sun was setting down it was getting colder and colder and the night at 4700 metres was very cold. |
