TREKKING TO THE KANGCHENJUNGA REGION

"At 8586 m Kangchenjunga in far nort-eastern Nepal is the world's third highest peak. It's a huge, spectacular mountain with five tops and five glaciers dominating a spur from the main Himalayan axis. The trek to its base via the Nepalese foothills has been described quite simply as "The Most Beautiful Walk In the World" (Kev Reynolds). Nothing to add and nothing to take. The trekking to the Kangchenjunga region was definitely the most wonderful one that I have ever undertaken. I was really stunned by the spectacular mountains, deep valleys, untouched primeval forests, tidy villages and friendly people.

The easiest and the fastest way to get to the beginning of the trek is to take a flight to Taplejung (Suketar Airport). Passengers are usually greeted by local people and their trekking staff.
Seketar is located on the top of the ridge and provides spectacular views, however Kangchenjunga was unfortunately obscured by clouds. The path traverses a cultivated slope and reaches the heavily forested ridge of Surkhe Danda which is then followed for some time.

The first settlement on the trail was called Tambewa. Initially, we were supposed to camp there, but we decided to push a little bit further.
The slopes in the area have been transformed into spectacular terraces.
