INDIA

India is one of the most exotic and colourful countries in the world and definitely one of my favourites. However everybody should be warned - and it is a tough country to travel around due to a dirt, poor and sometimes annoying people and long distances to negotiate. But is gives a lot of in return: fascinating culture, beautiful landscape, delicious and spicy food and a lot of opportunities for travel photographers. Very often people hate India when they leave the country but few months or weeks later they begin to miss it and they start to plan another Indian holidays. India is like a narcotic but it is very difficult to be cured.

CALCUTTA

Calcutta was the first place on Earth outside Europe where I arrived in September 1985. It was a tough start, wasn't it? I was completely shocked by a flood of strange people whom I could not understand (although I thought I had spoken English), an army of beggars, people sleeping on the street, dirt, humid monsoon climate etc. Since then the town has changed a lot but a lot of problems that I mentioned are waiting to be solved. But 10 years later when I visited Calcutta again it wasn't shocking me anymore and I actually even began to like it.
