Wadi Natrun is a partly cultivated valley located between Alexandria and Cairo, which contains some excellent Coptic monasteries dating back to 8th century. The domed- roof monastery above is Deir al Anba Bishoi.

Probably the most famous monastery is Deir as-Suriani and contains some splendid murals dated back to 8th century.
