Jaintiapur

Jaintiapur is two hours away from Sylhet by bus. It used to be the capital of Jaintia kingdom until the area was annexed by the British in 1835 but only badly preserved ruins of a temple resembles its splendor. Much more interested is a group of mysterious stone megaliths - 2.5 high, resembling those found in England, Denmark or Scandinavia and apparently but by the Kasi tribe, who are held to be of Mongolian origin.
